As I lay back in

the reclined chair in my

fuzzy socks, I starred

emptily at the flat screen.

Mom and I did this every

now and then together.

It served as our spa night.

Our peace was disrupted

as we heard a plane. We

expected the plane's

obnoxious engine to

disappear.

However, it did the

complete opposite.

Rather than the engines

decrease in sound, they

seemed to increase in

both sound and distance.

I had never heard a plane

get so close to my house.

My still body leaped out of

my comfort zone urgently.

I felt my heart beat as if

I was getting closer to the

Jumanji board game.

I dashed upstairs, skipping

two at a time. I reached my

little brother's room. I knew

I could get the best visibility

from his sun roomed windows.

I could see the fear and

confusion in his eyes.

I jumped on his squeaky bed

and search out his ceiling

window. A large plane barely

missed our roof.

As I watched it pass over

our house, I was immediately

relieved. My body had been in

fight mode. My rapid heart beat

began to slow down. My tense

nerves loosened up.

Right before I got off my

little brother's bed, my heart

dropped.

Before my eyes the large plane

managed to do an immediate

U-turn back to my house. I knew

right away my brother would not

get hurt because he was on a

safe level.

I immediately thought of

my mom still sitting in the

living room, I had to warn her.

I reached the stairwell and was

on my way to move her out of

the way. The plane was headed

straight for our living room.

Right before I jumped off

the bottom of the stairs, I

yelled, "Mom, get out, there's

a plane about to hit our house"!

I knew to stay alive, I needed to stay

put. If I tried to get my mom,

neither of us would have made it.

I could not leave my brother

to live without a mom and sister,

so I made a quick decision.

I closed my eyes expecting

to feel and hear the war like

compact. But to my surprise,

it never came.

Feeling confused and tense,

I remained still and silent. I glanced

over to the couch and saw my mom

still there. Sitting unharmed in one piece.

I began to inspect my house just to

make sure I was not dreaming. I saw no

pieces of plane or wall in my house.

We soon then heard the

doorbell ring. What an odd time

for a doorbell to ring, I thought

to myself. My mom and I went to

answer the door.

It was an African American

that wanted to question us.

I boiled with anger as she

was acting as if nothing just

happened.

Before my mom answered her

pointless questions, I demanded

to see her ID and asked who she

was. She showed us a badge

and informed us she was with

the government.

I could careless where

she came from, I did

not trust her. I was not sure if

she was the pilot or not

because infront of the plane

was a government vehicle.

As she left, I closed the door

and attempted to process

what had just happened.

My eyes opened in the

dark room, as I heard my

roommates alarm go off.

It was just a dream.
