As she began to pace a little faster, it was like a light jog.
Things began to play in her head. Everything that happened
to her at school. There were times when girls would slap and punch her.
There were times when Constance would be left in the dark
in the bathroom. Constance's heart began to race.
She felt her entire body get stronger than what it already was.
She tried to calm herself down, but it was too late.
Her eyes turned red and the hair on her neck stood up.
Constance was a loving individual. but when she lost control,
she was a completely different creature. Veins began to pop out.
If anything were in her way, she would kill it.
She knew it was not the best idea to head home,
so, she ran further into the acres. She went to her favorite
place. It was one of the tallest trees in the area.
Many people had snuck into their property just to see it.
One time they almost saw Constance. After that, her parents
decided to buy the land and not allow trespassers.
There was something about this tree that drew Constance to it.
She did not know what it is.
She pushed her body weight off the ground and
clung tight into the tree. She climbed up all the way
to the top. The tree was so tall that she could overlook
not the town, but nothing except trees and mountains.
Maybe that was what calmed her. The free feeling.
The feeling of nothing but beauty and peace as she
overlooked the scene, her heart began to slow down.
She looked down and did not see her veins. She knew
now; it was safe to go home. She had never hurt a human
before, but when her eyes turn red, there is no guarantee.
It was essential for her to be able to change every day.
Not only change, but to hunt. If she did not take the time
to tame what was inside her, things could do bad, if she did
not continuously hunt, she could do.
Furthermore, if she contained her energy, never exposing
it, she could very well turn into a monster. She leaped from the
top of the tree down to the ground. In this state,
nothing could kill her. Not even fire or a gun shot.
She began to run home.
The father got tired of waiting, so he found something
else to do with his time. When he saw her return, he went
back to his stopwatch. 2 hours and 32 minutes.
"You ok," he asked with concern?
Before she answered, she slowly changed back into
human. "I failed," she said. Her mother heard her in the
background and froze with her garden tools in hand.
Constance rarely failed. In fact, she only failed once before.
It did not end up being good. "Are things getting worse at
school," father asked? "Yes. I don't know how much more I
can take," Constance breathed heavily. "Well take all the time
you need hon. Do the best you can do. Do not allow her to take over," he said.
This was the only statement that helped keep me calm. I loved being what I was, but I never wanted to lose my humanity.
I said nothing else and headed inside. I headed straight
to the shower. As I was in the shower, I smelt the
salmon through the vents. Even though I had just eaten, I was still hungry.
I combed my short black hair and starred into the mirror.
Nothing but big, blue empty eyes. "What am I, what is my
purpose," I asked myself. I moisturized my face and then threw
on my favorite outfit. Nike sweats with an oversized sweatshirt.
The sweatshirt was a solid dark blue and it said got wolf.
Sometimes I wore it out, but it was an inside joke. My mom
saw it was on sale at a store and thought it would be funny.
After dinner I helped mom and dad clean up.
"You catch anything good earlier," Mom asked?
"A doe and red eyes," I answered. Mom did not look
that happy. The doe did not upset her, but the red eyes did.
She knows that means I lost control. My parents knew everything those.
kids had done to me at school. Mom also knew that is was Sunday night.
Which meant, school in the morning. "I'm going to go out," I said.
"Okay. love you, goodnight, both my parents ironically said.
They knew if I was going out this late, they will most likely be
in bed when I get back. They never bothered telling me to not
stay up late or be carefully. With my power, nobody could
do nothing to me. If anything, everything alive should fear me.
As I stepped on the back porch, the floor creaked beneath me.
Since I had animal DNA, let’s just say, I weighed a little
more than girls my age. As I glanced into the deep sky, there
were thousands of stars. I looked over the the right, full moon.
I smirked because I know those legends about werewolves and
a full moon. A full moon had nothing to do with my change.
I just enjoyed nighttime.
Nighttime was quiet, peaceful and nobody was around.
Plus, it is almost like I see so much better when it is dark.
Having the eyes of an owl is a lucky trait I’ll just say.
I could not help but begin to think about
the kids at school. I felt my hair on my neck raise
and my heart began to race. "Oh no," I thought to
myself. "C'mon CC, get a grip," I yelled to myself.
Before I knew it, I was tearing through the woods,
veins popping and red eyes.
