How COVID Stole Christmas

All of us, including
myself have seen
and heard that 2020
has been referred to as
the year from 'down there.'
2020 has brought
devastation, hardship,
heart breaks and worry.
From losing famous
people like Kobe B
and Rabi Zacharias,
more natural disasters,
possibility of fraud in
an election and lastly,
a world wide spread,
deadly virus.
What if I were to tell
you that 2020 has given
us meaning? What if I
even dared to say COVID
has given us more than it
has taken away? Or even,
what if COVID helped us
refocus on what really matters.
especially during the holidays?
you are probably
thinking that both
your year and Christmas
will have been both
taken by the Grinch, just
like how he stole Christmas
from the whos.
I don't know about
you, but this past year I
have cherished family,
life, friends, academics
and my health more than
I ever have.
Do not allow depression,
worry, anxiety or fear
swallow you whole.
Rather allow your mind
to be consumed with helping
and serving those you can.
Pay for that person infront
of you at the drive thru,
cook a hot meal for
that neighbor you know
is going through a hard time,
buy that worker a candy bar
as you checkout.
COVID might have
changed the way we live,
socialize and work, but there
is one thing that it will never
have the power to change.
That is, your perspective
and the ability to love
and serve those around you.
Above all, it has no power
to change the fact that God
is good, and He will always
be in control no matter what.
