A Christmas List: Part 2

As the mother left the Walmart

entrance, she searched the lot. Not only

did she forget where she parked, but she

was making sure it was safe for her and her daughter.

People seemed to like waiting for people in

parking lots, especially women who were alone.

She notified her Nissan in the distance as

it showed off the antlers. Emi always begged

for her mom to put antlers and a nose on the car.

Emi absolutely loved Christmas. Her mother, not

so much.

"Can I take the buggy back?" Emi asked.

Before the mother answered she looked to see

how far away the buggy holder was. It was right

across the road from their car. "Sure, just please look

both ways," said the mother.

As soon as Emi turned her back to her mother,

the mother's eye was looking at nothing else,

except Emi. The mother wasn't over protective,

but anytime Emi thought she was on her own,

she never was. The mother never let Emi out

of her sight. Emi shoved the buggy back excitedly

with the other buggy's. She then skipped across

the road without looking.

"Emi, you did not look to see if a car was

coming," said the mother. "I just knew a car

would not come," Emi said. "Honey, you can

not think like that. You do not know what could

have happened," said mother.

As the mother made sure Emi was buckled

in, she cranked the engine. She began to

plan in her head the next places she needed

to stop. She would top off with gas and then

pick up dinner. She cranked her Nissan, but it

stammered. She cranked it a second time

and it did not budge. "You have got to be

kidding me," she thought to herself.

There should be nothing wrong with my

car, it was at the dealership not too long ago.

Also, it is fairly new so there should not be any

issues with transmission or belt. She unbuckled

her seat belt and looked to the back seat.

The light above Emi's head was on. "Emi,

did you not turn off the light after you colored?"

asked the mother. "No," Emi frowned. The mother

was mad, but not mad enough to yell at her

nine year old. It was an honest mistake.

The mother dialed the closest towing

company. Emi got out her coloring things as

they waited to get someone on the phone. Thirty

minutes had passed and nobody picked up. Just as

she began to dial another number, an annoying thud

began. Starring at her phone the mother said, "Emi

please stop that noise, mommy is trying to focus," she said.

The noise continued and now sounded like a knock.

The mother was about to lose her temper, when she

noticed someone standing to the left of the driver side.

Startled, the mother realized it was the handsome

man that helped her. The mother slowly with her right hand

reached for her purse. Once she unzipped her purse, she

reached for her Glock 21.

With her left hand she reached for the window button.

She rolled down the window and asked him, "Can I help you?"

The man answered, "I think I should be asking you that

question." Before she could respond, he said, "Look

mam, I am not going to hurt you. I noticed your car not starting,"

he said confidentially.

She did not want to admit she had been watching

him. She also did not want to begin anything so she

decided the faster she cooperated, the quicker she

could leave.

"I have jumper cables in my car," he said. "Ok,"

said the mother. He jogged away and came back

soon with these two large cables. She knew little

about cars, so she let him do his thing. After a few minutes

the car cranked. The mother smiled big and thanked

the stranger.
